Jenny Thiele (*1987, Dresden) is a singer, musician and performer from Cologne, Germany.
She’s a freelancing artist who plays her own original music, composing and performing for dance theatre productions or currently accompanying German Indie band „Fortuna Ehrenfeld“ on keyboards/synths. Her musical focus lies on experimental and alternative Pop music and is often related to as an expressive, theatrical style.
Since 2009 she has published fifteen records in collaboration with other musicians or as a solo artist. In 2013 she sang the female lead role for the modern opera „The picture of Dorian Gray“ by T. Agerfeldt Olesen at Den Jyske Opera in Aarhus, Denmark.
In December 2020 she released her latest album called „What if“ as AnnaOtta together with Irene Novoa (Madrid, Spain) on the experimental label Econore. AnnaOtta is an experimental and electronic music duo that explores concepts of improvisation and music based exclusively on the voice which is manipulated by loops, effects and sampling.
Jenny Thiele graduated from the ArtEZ Conservatory in Arnhem, Netherlands, with a BA in Pop/Jazz singing in 2011.
Jenny Thiele's debut album "Haus" was released in 2012 by Hey! Blau Records. The sound and instrumentation of the first album are as colorful as the accompanying CD cover, because fragile piano ballads meet detailed arrangements by the string quartet Badz and also withstand the force of the samba percussion by Buyakano. E-bass, guitars and drums weave into the pop collage and bring a rock-funky indie sound to the album. With frank lyrics and an angelic voice that can quickly turn into a devil, Jenny's style is also reminiscent of artists such as Nina Hagen, Björk or Kate Bush.
